It changes to a dial up account that you must use once a month.

But its still valid for at least 90 days after you cancel you broadband

( mine is still working after 1 year ) and they still have not stopped it

Reply:no, they stay put, but check your contract to see if you can cancel, because i couldn't, was tied in for 12 months, read the small print.

my old account is still open and i still get e mails on it, regardless that i changed from one provider to another. The only thing to do is make sure that you copied everything across if you are really worried. But i reckon you can't cancel the contract not without a load of hassle.

e mails still go to my old BT account. 14 months on from switching.
Reply:quite probably, that's why you should never use your internet provider as your email provider. you can save all your emails to your computer before you get cut off if they're on BTs server, but people will no longer be able to use your btinternet.com address to reach you.
Reply:yes you will loose it unfortunatley, plenty of websites that offer free ones tho
