No offence mate, and I bid you good luck as a restorer myself, but I would imagine a Mk 1 Astra would be a complete bucket-case by now; if a boy-racer hasn't got hold of it then it might be well and truly rotted away to scrap.
But I wish you all the best and hope you find your old car, I know the value of these things as I have just found my old Rover SD1 after eight years of looking!
Try Practical Classic magazine they are usually good at putting the word out or pointing you in the right direction
