Received an email supposedly from bt, the addy was - secur@btinternet.com...?

It said...Mail server report.





Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.





Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).





Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.


After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the


e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail


addresses





Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer


restoring.

I haven't opened the attachment as the email was in my junk folder, sounds a bit suspicious, anyone else experienced the same?

Very very sus. Email BT via their main, legit website and ask them for advice. Mark it:





URGENT -- possible fraudulent BT email.





That should get their attention.





Meanwhile, don't open the email attachment. And run a full scan with your anti-virus and anti-spyware PRONTO!

Reply:delete it, and never ever run an executable file (exe) contained within an email. Spammers will try anything to get their information to you, this one is probably a mass emailing virus.





If you are ever unsure about the validity or source of an email get rid of it
Reply:emails which request you to run an attached file are ALWAYS viruses - and the grammar and punctuation of the email is fairly appalling to boot. most likely because it was put together by someone in russia or china.
Reply:There is NO isp that would email you an executable. I checked and that emailaddress is real, but even so it is easy to fake the returnaddress. The email you received is BOGUS.
Reply:my advice is to scan your pc and then goto yahoo or msn and use an online email account you are less likely to get a virus from one these as they scan the email when its sent and delivered i been using yahoo/msn/orangewanadoo. never had an email virus in four years its the way to go i had ntl netgaurd on my pc but changed to avg as its better
Reply:Report it to BTYAHOO, as I don`t think they would send this type of e-mail. Anyway it might pay to either ring BTYAHOO or e-mail them.


If you have a competent virus %26amp; spyware checker on your PC, then I think you`ll find that it is a scam e-mail.


But it`s worth checking with BTYAHOO first (don`t reply to the e-mail address in the e-mail) :-)
